A Five members: 1. Abani Gaya, Advocate 2. Maguni Nahak, Social activists 3. Srinibas Rao, Social activist 4) Ranjan Mishra TUCI and 5. Bibek Ranjan, OPDR team went around Salaptaila, Bhogra and Rampo villages under Tarsingi Police Station to extract the truth about the ongoing oppression of the adivasis in the area. It’s informed by the local tribal leaders that there is a year old repression by the upper caste locals on Dalits and tribals. The tribals and dalits are protesting against illegal land occupation and caste based oppression. Even they are losing their crops in every year by forceful cutting and destruction by the upper caste landlords.

The state is intentionally keeping away the tribal people from traditional farming and innovative agricultural system. There were two separate murders (Ganesh Mallick of Salpa Taila and Jitendra Pradhan of Bhogra) by the upper caste traders, but still the police is helping the murderers. When the villagers requested the police for investigation, they planted 3 separate criminal cases against more than 100 villagers. There is a panic of arrest which hovers over every village of the area. In this crucial condition the team gone through the versions the villagers, again on return met the sub-Collector Mr. Minz. He assured to operate a fresh inquiry over the matters. On 29th January 2019 the team released a press note at “Ganjam Kala Parisad” demanding a Separate Agency for the safeguard of the life and livelihood of the traditional People of the region, announce a proper amount as compensation to both families, and arrest of those responsible for the murders. The team demanded punishment against the officers involved in this issue.
