A Union was running by other leaders in Kalyani Solvex Pvt. Ltd. Situated at Naroi, Dakshin Dinajpur, West Bengal. Approx 300 workers are working in this mill. Rice Bran oil is main product of this mill. Though workers were organized in a trade union, they are not satisfied with the leadership. At last they organized under the Banner of Trade Union Centre of India (TUCI). Major workers had joined. Thousands March to Kalpatta, Wayanad on July 18 in Solidarity with Land Struggle ! Thousands of Adivasis and landless peasants along with others expressing solidarity marched on18th July to Wayanad District Collectorate demanding land to the landless. In Kerala after 72 years of so called Independence 5.25 lakh acres of land are still encroached by foreign plantation companies and local mafia with the help of Kerala governments (either Left Front or Right Front) whoever is in power. As demanded by the Adivasi Land Struggle Committee, the authorities have signed the agreement to hand over five acres of land and the traditional land of the Adivasis to the families in Attappadi. It was in a meeting of the AIKKS leaders with the officers of the ITDP that this agreement was signed. As the agreement was signed AIKKS has withdrawn the march to Kerala High Court it was planning from 30th May. The land will be measured and handed over by 30th June. Rally and public meeting were organized at Abhanpur on 31st May on the occasion of 29th anniversary of martyrdom of com. Ramesh Parida. In 1990 the workers of various factories near Abhanpur had organized strike demanding better wages, job protection and permanent jobs. Police as part of its suppressive acts arrested the TUCI leaders and took them to Abhanpur police lock up. On 25th May, 52 years ago, it was on this day the West Bengal state and central forces fired on demonstrators at Naxalbari killing 11 comrades including infants to suppress the People’s Uprising advancing in the region calling for ‘land to the tiller’ as part of agrarian revolution.
