Campaign Against AFSPA and Suppression by Army Launched Hundreds Participate in 27th March Militant Dharna at New Delhi

THE DHARNA on 27th March at Jantar Mantar became a launching pad for a powerful campaign against AFSPA and the Policing by Army in North Eastern states and J&K, which is spread to Chhattisgarh now. The participation of comrades from Manipur, especially women who are consistently supporting the indefinite fast of Irom Sharmila against the AFSPA and of students from the Northeast, especially of Manipur Students Association of Delhi and solidarity with the struggle extended by the struggling forces of Northeast and J&K have given a pan Indian character to the movement.
Com. KN Ramachandran, General Secretary of CPI(ML) who inaugurated the Dharna declared that the Congress led UPA government and previous BJP led NDA government have proved through their action that they staunchily support the imposition of this draconian law over nearly 40 million people. While other political parties including even the pseudo left CPI and CPI(M) have refused to condemn this draconian law. So CPI(ML) coming forward to unite all forces who are struggling against this draconian law and against the virtual military rule in these areas has great significance.
He declared that the countrywide campaign and struggle against AFSPA and suppression by Army shall be continued militantly till these policies are reversed. The Central Committee of the Party which met at New Delhi on 28-30 March has decided to launch a vigorous movement in solidarity with Irom Sharmila and all struggling forces of these regions so that the military atrocities in these areas can be ended.
