AIRWO Demonstrates Against Judge
CASTE PREJUDICES and lust for dowry money drives retired Sessions judge and his son in Bhubaneswar to attempt murder of son’s pregnant wife using professional killers. From investigations and press reports it is clear that after Minu became pregnant following love marriage with Samir Roy’s son Satyabrata, as she is from a lower caste poor family, she was continuously harassed, two forcible abortion attempts were made and finally handed over to supari killers, paying Rs. 3.5 lakhs. She was brutally beaten up, tied in a mat and thrown from Cuttak Barrage across Mahanadi. But as she happened to land on a dry sand dune she was saved by nearby villagers and is struggling for life in the hospital.
Com. Prameela, Indumati and other AIRWO leaders visited Minu, who is in coma in the ICU unit of SRC Medical College Hospital. A militant demonstration of hundreds of women was organized on 11th May in front of the Bhubaneswar residence of the judge by AIRWO. It has demanded that no bail should be granted to the murderer, retired district judge, Samir Roy and his family members who tried to brutally murder the pregnant Minu, wife of his son, by throwing her from the Mahanadi barrage near Cuttack, Odisha.
