Karnataka: Victory in Local Body Elections

IN the local body (panchayat) elections in Karnataka, Party candidates won in 25 of the 60 seats they contested in Raichur, Bellary and Chikmangalur districts. The elections were contested by the party based on an election manifesto calling for divesting more power to local bodies, their democratization and an end to bureaucratic interference which is breeding corruption. The manifesto also put forward an alternate development perspective rejecting the neoliberal policies.
