More Forces Support Towarimala Land Struggle: As the Towarimala land struggle and the dharna before Kalpatta Collectorate is reaching its sixtieth day, more sections of landless families are coming forward in support of it. The move by CPI(M) ministers to legalize the illegal occupation of 5.25 lakh acres of land by foreign plantation companies, and their benamis by receiving land tax from them has angered the Adivasis and other landless people including the plantation workers who demand their confiscation by the govt. and distribution to plantation workers and the landless families.
